Thank you for the refresher! I did not know about leaving a space for single quotes butting up against double quotes. It really does make it look cleaner.
On the quotes spanning multiple paragraphs though, I was taught that the start of each new paragraph had a beginning quote, but the end quote was left off until the final end. Of course I graduated in '95, so I wouldn't be surprised if things had changed a bit :-)
That's correct! It was actually a typo in the post that the opening quotation mark was not included in the second paragraph of the example. I've corrected it now. :)
