# Accept Assignments

No action is required to accept an assignment, although we recommend messaging the author to let them know you are excited and to clarify when you plan to begin work.

The service status will be set to “Pending” initially. When you begin work on the service, change the status to “In Progress” on [your assignments](https://www.bluepenbooks.com/my-assignments/) page.
