# Types of English

For editing services, you will be asked to select a type of English. This determines the dictionary your editor uses for prose-level changes.

- American English: *Merriam-Webster's Dictionary*
- British English: *Oxford English Dictionary*
- Canadian English: *Oxford Canadian Dictionary*

Our editors always default to the *Chicago Manual of Style* for fiction.

Please specify any additional style requirements in your editing brief.
