Editing » Proofreading
No author wants readers to find typos in their book. Before you move on to interior layout, make sure your manuscript is clean and prepped with a final proofread.
What Is Proofreading?
Proofreading is the final stage of the editing process. It addresses grammatical, spelling, and typographical errors. Proofreading includes changes to make the prose objectively correct and does not address style or substantive issues. Proofreading will correct issues related to spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic formatting.
In most cases, we recommend a line edit prior to a proofread to ensure your prose is tight, strong, and ready for a final pass. After the proofread, your manuscript will be prepared for interior layout.

How It Works
We will pair you with a proofreader who has experience and expertise with your work's genre, age category, and subject matter. Before we begin, you will complete an editing brief with information about your goals for the work and any special considerations, such as certain capitalizations you would like to remain. Then the proofreader will attentively work through your prose, weeding out residual errors.
